festival of dangerous ideas at the Sydney Opera House

dear oh dear. I just left a very interesting debate entitled 'Australia is a third rate country'. It was between the chief editor of Sydney Herald and a female former diplomat called Alison Broinowski and i found it very informative and interesting. Felt quite a lot like an interloper, being british and was actually quite pleasantly shocked when the obvious conclusion, very eloquently put by Broinowski, was that clearly Australia is at least second rate in terms of foreign policy, education, cultural development, the chasm of inequality between whites and blacks and many other things, including the international perspective of australians as lazy,
